What cookies are

Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They let a site remember things between pages and between visits. Similar technologies, such as local storage and tracking pixels, work in comparable ways. This policy covers all of them.

Our approach

We set only strictly necessary cookies unless you tell us otherwise.

Analytics and marketing cookies are switched off by default. Nothing in those categories loads until you choose to allow it.

You can change your choice at any time using Cookie Settings in the footer of any page.

The categories

Strictly necessary

These make the site work. They keep you signed in, remember your language and currency, protect against fraudulent form submissions, and record your cookie choice so we do not ask again on every page. These cannot be switched off, because the site cannot function without them. They do not require your consent.

Affiliate referral

If you open the site through a link shared by one of our affiliates, we store that affiliate's code for 30 days, so an enquiry you make in that time is credited to them. The cookie holds only the code and when the link was opened, nothing about you, and it is not used for anything else. It is set without asking because the credit it records is part of our agreement with the affiliate.

Analytics

These help us see which pages people use, where they leave, and what is not working. We use this to decide what to fix and what to write about. Off by default. They load only if you allow them.

Marketing

These let us show relevant advertising on other websites and measure whether that advertising worked. They may be set by advertising platforms and can be used to build a profile of your interests across sites. Off by default. They load only if you allow them.

In our emails

Some of our emails may contain a small image, often called a pixel, that tells us whether the email was opened. We use it only to understand which messages are useful. You can stop it by turning off automatic image loading in your email program.

Changing your mind

Use Cookie Settings in the footer. Your new choice takes effect immediately. Turning off a category stops the relevant scripts from running.

You can also manage cookies in your browser settings, including deleting existing ones. Blocking strictly necessary cookies will stop parts of the site from working.

To limit interest based advertising across the sites you visit, you can use the ad settings of the platforms concerned, such as Google's My Ad Center, or, in Europe, the opt out tool at youronlinechoices.eu.

Maps

A listing page can show a Google map of the area. If you have allowed analytics or marketing cookies, the map loads by itself; otherwise it loads only when you choose to show it, and until then nothing is requested from Google. Once loaded, Google may set its own cookies under its own privacy policy.

Third parties

Analytics and marketing cookies are set by third party providers who process the data for their own purposes as well as ours. Their own privacy policies apply.
